One of the key program components of NHA is training. Besides the various donors’ funded project related training, NHA also runs non-project related training designed to update the knowledge and improve performances of young people. We also run training to strengthen the capacities of individuals and organization in project design and management. Such training includes proposal development workshop, qualitative research methodologies, quantitative research methodologies, updates in RH and contraceptive techniques. Each of these training is conducted twice a year with the mix of NHA staff and consultants as resource persons.
Our training programs are designed to increase knowledge, skills development, attitude building, competency, and performance enhancement. NHA had developed its training program to enable it to respond to the needs/learning of trainees, and are categorized into management skills, supervisory skills, training of trainers, family planning, Peer Educators, communication/interpersonal skills, leadership, community mobilization/stakeholder participation etc.
Training techniques emphasize active participation of trainees with adequate provision for practicum/working sessions; group activities and field visit that enable participants practices their newly acquired skills prelude to re-entry into their jobs. Each of these training is standardized and guided by manual specific to the learning requirement of trainees.
The training contents of our training include contemporary issues/paradigm shift in management, service provision, youth participation, counseling, communication, stakeholder’s participation among others. Staffs are encouraged to improve their skills through periodic participation in national and international training programs.
